Charlie Crist is going Hollywood in his effort to get Floridians to fight global warming.
The Florida governor announced that California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger will be the keynote speaker at the Florida Summit on Global Climate Change in Miami next month.
"Governor Schwarzenegger is a tremendous champion of this cause, and I am honored that he will lend his expertise as we explore ways to overcome this monumental challenge," Crist said in a written release. The July 12-13 event takes place at the Intercontinental Miami Hotel. Anyone can register for the summit at www.MyFloridaClimate.com.
Crist called for the summit when he delivered his first State of the State Address to the Legislature in March. In April, Crist met with singer and climate change activist Cheryl Crow at the University of Florida.
Schwarzenegger has championed a "Hydrogen Highway" that by 2010 will connect California's urban centers and 21 interstate freeways with a network of hydrogen fueling stations that will allow motorists to use the cleaner burning fuel. He also has pledged to have 1 million homes and businesses fitted with new solar panels by 2018.
