GEORGIA
With ever-increasing fuel and energy prices, Georgia’s economy faces problems. Our dependence on non-renewable sources of energy is also leading to climate change. The economic costs of ignoring climate change are especially pronounced. If we don’t take action to fight global warming, Georgia could lose 16,648 jobs. (i)
At the root of our problem is our total reliance on fossil fuels. Georgia currently relies on coal for a majority of its energy. (ii)
By investing in renewable energy, we can put Georgians to work and solve the problem of global warming at the same time.
Georgia has the potential to generate 63% of its energy from renewable sources! (iii)
In Georgia, some action has already been taken to fight global warming, by establishing a registry for carbon emissions. (iv)
But the struggle is not over. We need strong leadership to continue the fight against global climate change.
